Some of you may have joined the Facebook page that is supposed to have allowed people to congratulate him on his feat. Sorry, that page was created by the social media company called Vitrue, which used the page to prove the impact and potential audience aggregation that can come from using social media for particular causes or cases.
I wonder how the fans of the Facebook page would feel to know that it's all part of a marketing experiment, rather than a real testament to a heroic feat put up by some person who thought it was worth recognizing?
None of the links in this post go to that Facebook page. I don't think it deserves the traffic.
Thank you for alerting us to this fact - I was dismayed, to say the least. I've recommended to all my friends on Facebook that they drop the page from their fan list, instead seeking out other ways to recognize the captain.

Talk about a crash landing!

Talking about it to several people, some of whom were members of this group, generally, people don't like being exploited like this. Bad move if you're really trying to do more than prove a point.
